Prep4Power Study

Information About Our Study

Empower Your Health. Help Us Learn. Shape HIV Prevention for Women.

What is Prep4Power?

A research study designed to learn how to improve PrEP awareness, access, and adherence among young women. Participants will complete a survey about their knowledge, attitudes, and experiences with PrEP, and may be invited to participate in additional study activities. Your insights can help design better prevention tools, resources, and services that meet the needs of women like you.

Who can join

  • All women (cisgender or transgender women) ages 16–30 who are HIV-negative and who are able to provide informed consent.
  • We encourage participation from diverse backgrounds and communities, including those with differing access to healthcare, education levels, and relationship dynamics.
  • You can participate whether you have used or have never used PrEP before.

What participation involves

  • Survey: A brief online questionnaire (approximately 20 minutes) about PrEP knowledge, risk perception, and how much time or money you would be willing to spend on PrEP.
  • Compensation: Each participant will get a $50 gift card for each completed survey.
  • Privacy: Personal information is kept confidential. Data are reported in aggregate form to protect identity. You will not be identifiable in any published results.

Steps to participate

  • Risks: The survey asks questions about health, behavior, and experiences. You may skip any question you don’t want to answer.
  • Benefits: Your responses will contribute to improving PrEP information, access, and support services for women. Some individuals may also gain access to resources or referrals through the study team.
  •

What you’ll gain

  • Knowledge that your input helps shape practical tools and messaging for PrEP outreach and services.
  • Access to participant resources, including information on local PrEP clinics and confidential support services as available in your area.

Risks and benefits

  • Step 1: Review the consent information and ask questions to the study team.
  • Step 2: Provide informed consent if you’re willing to participate.
  • Step 3: Complete the initial survey (and any optional components if you choose).
  • Step 4: Receive follow-up information about study results and how your input contributed to improvements in PrEP resources.
  •
